中学生対象レシテーションコンテスト @ HELLO Village

中学生対象レシテーションコンテストの決勝が本校HELLO Villageで行われ、予選を勝ち抜いた中学生10名がレシテーションを行いました。
　レシテーションとは、与えられた課題文を暗唱，朗読発表することです。
　今年度の課題文はハリーポッターの筆者であるJ.K.Rowlingが失敗の功績について書いたエッセイからの抜粋でした。
　一人一人が内容をしっかり解釈し、自分なりの思いを込めて、身振り手振りと共に素晴らしい暗唱を披露してくれました。
　クリス村長のコメントにもあったように、まるでJ.K.Rowling自身がここに来て演説をしているような気持ちになりました。全ての発表レベルが大変高く，また感情がこもっており，私たちの心に響きました。参加者の皆さん、大変印象的なレシテーションをありがとうございました。
　レシテーション終了後は本校生徒ともに、英語のゲームを楽しみました。初めて出会う生徒同士でペアを組み、話し合いながらゲームを行うことで、それぞれがコミュニケーションの楽しさを感じてくれていたように思います。
　コロナ禍で開催が危ぶまれましたが、参加者、スタッフ、一人一人の尽力により、無事に開催され、素晴らしい大会となりましたこと、心より御礼申し上げます。今後もHELLO Village が様々な境を越えたコミュニケーションの場、英語や世界についてさらに学ぶきっかけとなれば幸いです。

　On Nov. 13th, the 15th Hiyoshigaoka Recitation Contest was held at HELLO Village. This time, 10 junior high school students who passed the screening process joined the final competition.
　Recitation is to memorize and recite something like sentences.
　The assignment this year was the excerpt from ‘The Benefits of Failure’ by JK Rowing who is the author of Harry Potter Series. Each speaker clearly understood what Rowing wanted to say and made a great performance with effective gestures. The audience felt as if JK Rowing herself came here and made a speech. All the speeches were so great and expressive as to touch our hearts. Thank you for your impressive speeches.
　When the judges had the serious problem deciding which performance was the best, Hiyoshigaoka students who were the chairpersons presented ‘Pub Quiz’ for honoring the great contestants. 10 junior high school students this time made teams and worked together, each enjoying communicating with other contestants in English.
　We are really glad that we had the recitation contest this year in this era of COVID-19. We hope HELLO Village will be a place to offer opportunities for various trans-border communications and learning English and the world.
