HELLO Village Week II Day 5

HELLO Village Week IIの最終日は本校スピーチコンテストKris Cup(クリス杯)が行われ、一年次生7名、二年次生8名が参加し、英語のスピーチを披露しました。
　美しい発音、アクセントで話せるよう練習を重ねた末、話し方や身振り手振りにも表現を込められた様子に驚かされました。内容は自分の好きなこと、社会問題、コロナ禍で変化した生活、大切な人についてなど多岐にわたっていましたが、どれも大変説得力があり、頷いたり、時には涙を誘われたり、ユーモアに笑わされたりと、どのコンテンツにもそれぞれの良さがあり、個性が出ていて、心を動かされました。母語ではない英語で文章を考え、練習し、そして人前で披露することは大変難しく，勇気がいることですが，一人一人が英語村の舞台でそれを立派にやり遂げたことを誇りに思います。
　今回のHELLO Village Week のテーマ『True Colors 』は自分自身、本当の自分に向き合って、それを表現して欲しいという思いで付けられました。思ったより上手くできなかった、もっとこうすればよかった！と様々な気持ちがあると思いますが、それも含めて今日、まさに、それぞれのtrue colorが発揮され、皆が笑顔でHELLO 幕を閉じたことを嬉しく思います。
　今後もHELLO Village で自分自身をどんどん表現していきましょう！

　On Nov. 10th, HELLO Village Week Day 5 was held at HELLO Village. As an afterschool event, we had Kris Cup English Speech Contest.
　We had 7 first-graders and 8 second-graders as participants this time. We were amazed by their expressive speeches because we could tell how much efforts they made in order to give such great speeches. The themes were from what they like, social problems, our life in the era of COVID-19, to previous persons for them. All the speeches expressed what they are. The audience laughed by their humor and were moved by their stories. It is quite tough to think in English and make a speech in public, and so we are proud of our courageous students who did it well at the stage of HELLO Village.
　We have ‘True Color’s as the theme of HELLO Village Week II because we want students to face and express their true selves. Some might think ‘I couldn’t express myself well’, or ‘I should have done this!’. But That’s okay. Those are also negative but true colors. We are glad that HELLO Village Week II ended with smiling students.
　Let’s express ourselves at HELLO Village from here on.
