On Nov. 16th, as the final event of HELLO Village Week II Day 5, 7th KRIS CUP Hiyoshigaoka Speech Contest was held at HELLO Village. We had 6 first-graders, 8 second-graders, and 3 exchange students as participants this time. We were amazed by their expressive speeches because we could tell how much efforts they made in order to give such great speeches. The themes of their speeches were from what they like, social problems, club activities, language learning, to previous persons for them. All the speeches expressed what they are. The audience laughed by their humor and was moved by their stories. It is quite tough to think in non-native languages and make a speech in public, so we are proud of our courageous students.
We had ‘Crossing Borders’ as the theme of HELLO Village Week II. We chose this word because we want students to challenge themselves in a situation where they interact with other students from different classes, people with different backgrounds or from a different generation. In thier challenges, some students might think ‘I couldn’t express myself well’, but that’s okay. We are really glad that students challenged themselves by making a speech in KRIS CUP.
