Pub Quiz I

5月27日（火）毎年恒例の「Pub Quiz I」が英語村で開催されました。放課後、英語村に集まった生徒達は12チームに分かれ、クリス村長から出題される様々なクイズにチーム一丸となって協力して挑み、楽しく学ぶ時を過ごしました。

Quizは6種類で、アルファベットがランダムに並ぶ中から「夏」に関する言葉を探し出す「Word Search」、スクリーンに映し出された言葉にかけている文字を補って単語を完成する「Missing Letter」、例えば「たこには心臓が２つある」が真か偽かを答える「True or False」、最も多い答をあてる「Common Answer」、そして一番少ない答をあてる「One of the Kind」を経て最後、お馴染みの「Music Video Quiz」はEd
Sheeranのビデオクリップからの出題でした。これはとても難しく、正解が出せたグループは大喜びでした。Quizに正解が出せるとポイントが付き、皆、英語で頑張っていることを忘れるほど集中していました。参加した生徒達は大いに楽しみながら生きた英語に触れ、新たな知識も得ることができたと喜んでいました。

今年度、3回目のイベントは常にエキサイティングな「HELLO
Village Week I」が6月12日～6月18日英語村で開催されます。前半は
6月9日から一週間日吉ケ丘を訪れているローマニアの姉妹校ジョージ・コシュブック高校の生徒達を、そして後半はアメリカからのCIEE留学生を迎えて生徒達に様々な形で世界の文化と英語に触れる機会を提供していきます。

On May 27th, the first “Pub Quiz” of the year was held at HELLO
Village. This year, 12 teams of students joined the event and
enjoyed taking on quiz challenges made by the mayor of HELLO
Village, Kris!

The students worked together in their teams through six quiz
rounds:

★ Word Search： finding summer-related words which are
scrambled on a sheet of paper.
★ Missing Letter： completing words that are missing one letter,
such as “banana” missing the “n”.
★ True or False： deciding whether a statement is true or false, for example, “An octopus has two hearts.”
★ Common Answers： guessing the most popular answer when
given a category.
★ One of a Kind： similar to "Common Answer," but guessing the
least popular answer.
★ Music Video Quiz： answering questions based on an Ed
Sheeran music video.

The students who took part in this difficult event cheered excitedly when they scored points and created good memories with their
teams. Most importantly, through this experience they were able to enjoy authentic English and gain confidence in expressing
themselves.

The third event of the year will be the always exciting “HELLO
Village Week I” (June 12th to June 18th). The first half will feature students from our sister school in Romania, George Cosbuc High
School, and the second half will welcome CIEE exchange students
from America. The week will be full of lunchtime and after-school
events, giving students lots of opportunities to communicate in
English and learn about other cultures.
