Open Event ’Exploring Art’ @ HELLO Village

　１月２５日（土）、今年度５回目の一般市民向けイベント「Exploring Art」が英語村で開催されました。このイベントは、本校４人のALTたちと一緒に世界のアートを「探検」しつつ、英語を学ぼうというものです。
　前半部分では、ALTがそれぞれの視点から世界のアートに関して紹介してくれました。まず初めに、ジョンさんは「What is art?」や「What makes art famous?」といった難題で私たちの頭を大いに悩ませつつ、体を使ったパフォーマンスアートについて説明してくれました。次に、二コルさんは世界各地のアートがそれぞれ持つ独自のスタイルを１３の作品を例に話してくれました。また、ダニエルさんはアート史上に残るいくつかの問題作を「Weird Art」として紹介してくれました。最後に、エイスリンさんは、アートで使われる「材料」の観点から、とりわけガラスを使ったアートに注目してお話してくれました。
　後半は、参加者みなさんで大きな画用紙に共同作品を作りました。白い画用紙の上には、鮮やかな紙の花が咲いたり、オリジナルのマスコットキャラが不気味に笑ったり、多種多様なコラージュやモザイクが生み出されました。
さて、今年度の一般市民向けイベントは次が最後となり、２月２２日（土）に開催予定です。日程が近づきましたら、また日吉ケ丘高校HPからご案内をさせていただきます。本日は、寒い中ご参加いただき、ありがとうございました。

　The fifth public event ‘Exploring Art’ was held at HELLO Village on Jan. 25th. In this event, 4 ALTs led us to explore the World of Art.
　In the first half, four ALTs introduced art from different points of views. John helped us scratch our heads by giving difficult questions such as ‘What is art?’ and ‘What makes art famous?’ and also talked about performance art. Nicholl explained various styles of art by using examples from all over the world. Daniel introduced some controversial artworks such as Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain and John Cage’s ‘4’33’. Aislinn talked about art in terms of materials (especially glass) and focused on Dale Chihuly.
　In the second half, ALTs and participants together produced a collaborative artwork. On a big drawing paper, beautiful paper flowers were flourishing, unknown cute mascots were smiling weirdly, various collages and mosaics were created!
